    Easy Vegan Chocolate Dream Pie ❤️ A quick & easy recipe made with a rich, luscious mousse-like filling in a buttery homemade graham cracker crust. This simply scrumptious vegan spin on a traditional cream pie dessert is a chocolate lover's dream.

    Ingredients

    Graham Cracker Pie Crust

    Ingredients for a vegan graham cracker crust including graham crackers, sugar, and vegan butter.

    Graham crackers (vegan) - or graham cracker crumbs. Some graham crackers contain honey, which is not vegan. Here are a two vegan (honey-free) graham cracker products: Nabisco Original Grahams and Kellogg's Original Grahams. There are also gluten-free vegan graham crackers (for those with gluten allergies) available in stores and online.

    Sugar - we use organic cane sugar, but you can substitute it with a granulated sugar of your choice.

    Butter (vegan/non-dairy) use your favorite or make your own with this recipe.

    🥕 Substitution - If you can't find vegan graham crackers, you can substitute with an equal quantity of either Biscoff or vegan Speculoos biscuit cookies. Do check the labels to make sure the cookies you use are vegan. If you're short on time, you can also use a store-bought vegan graham cracker crust.

    Here is how we make this easy & delicious vegan graham cracker pie crust.

    Making this dessert is a dream. In less than 30 minutes you'll have the ultimate chocolate lovers cream pie. Start by preparing and baking a vegan graham cracker pie shell. It's so easy to do and totally worth it!

    Pie Filling

    Ingredients for vegan chocolate dream pie filling.

    Bittersweet baking chocolate - vegan (I prefer 66 -70% cacao content)

    Plain cream cheese - vegan

    Powdered sugar

    Dairy-free whipped topping - your choice (I used CocoWHIP). You can also make your own easy coconut whipped cream (see FAQ's below).

    Instructions

    Melted chocolate and vegan cream cheese in the bottom of a mixing bowl.

    Melt baking chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl (heated in 30 second increments). Stir and repeat until melted. Pour the melted chocolate into a mixing bowl. Add cream cheese.

    Stir cream cheese and chocolate until thoroughly combined.

    Add powdered sugar.

    Stir until smooth and creamy.

    Gently fold in topping with chocolate mixture.

    Stir just until combined.

    Spoon the filling into the pie crust. Gently cover with foil or food-safe plastic. Refrigerate up to two hours before serving or freeze until ready to enjoy.

    Are graham crackers the only option for the crust?

    While graham crackers work beautifully for this pie, you can get creative with the crust. Feel free to experiment with other vegan cookie crumbs (such a Biscoff biscuits) or even crushed nuts for a unique twist.

    How long does it take to prepare this pie?

    This recipe is designed for those who want a quick dessert fix. From start to finish, it should take no more than 30 minutes to assemble and then refrigerate for a couple hours to set. If you don't have the time (or will-power) to wait for the pie to chill, go ahead and dig in!

    Can I substitute non-dairy whipped cream with homemade alternatives?

    Yes! Making your own luscious vegan whipped topping is easier than you might think, using just a few simple ingredients. Here is my favorite recipe for a light and luscious coconut whipped cream:

    14 oz coconut milk (full fat) one can, refrigerated at least 8 hours
    ¼ cup powdered sugar (add more to taste if needed)
    ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

    Open the can of chilled coconut milk and scoop out the hardened coconut cream (not the liquid milk) into a deep bowl. You can save the liquid milk for another use or discard it.
    Begin whipping cream with a high speed electric mixer.
    Add powdered sugar and vanilla, continuing to whip until fluffy.
    Use immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.
    Store the leftover whipped topping in a refrigerator or the coconut cream will begin to melt at room temperature.

    How to store vegan chocolate dream pie?

    Securely cover and refrigerate the leftover pie for up to 3 days.

    • 2 9 oz cartons non-dairy whipped topping I like Cocowhip
    • 1 9" graham cracker crust pre-baked - see our recipe

    Instructions
     

    • Melt baking chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. (Heat 30 seconds, stir, repeat till melted.)
    • Add cream cheese and stir until thoroughly combined with chocolate.
    • Add sugar, stirring until smooth. Fold in whipped topping. Gently stir to combine.
    • Spoon chocolate cream mixture into pie shell.
    • Refrigerate up to two hours before serving or cover with plastic wrap and freeze.
    • When ready to serve, decorate with additional whipped topping and berries, melted chocolate, cocoa nibs, or mint leaves.

      Do you think it'd still be good if I just used a pre-made vegan pie crust? The one I have is good, it's not sweet, though. It's pretty neutral, but it almost has a slight salty taste, but it's really good for pumpkin pie. What do you think?

        Hi Valerie, honestly, I think this pie is best with a graham cracker crust. It adds a sweet chewy layer that enhances the overall experience of the pie.
