    What do chocolate dream pie, key lime pie, and cheesecake all have in common? You've got it! Graham cracker crusts!

    There's just something about a homemade crust that tastes so much better than a pre-made one from a store shelf. Particularly this simple vegan graham cracker crust. If everyone knew how super easy it is to make their own tasty pie crust, I doubt anyone would buy one again.

    Are graham crackers vegan?

    Not always. Many graham cracker brands use honey in manufacturing their products. The problem with that is honey is not considered vegan. While some vegans do choose to eat honey, many more adhere to not consuming anything that comes from animals (or insects). The Vegan Society provides an informative statement on their website about why they believe honey is not vegan. Did you know you can make your own vegan clover honey? It's delish!

    How to make a simple vegan graham cracker crust

    You can make this perfectly scrumptious crust, start to finish, in about 15 minutes! Three basic ingredients and you'll have the perfect yummy base for your pie filling. I like to buy whole graham crackers and crush them into crumbs, but you can also use boxed graham crumbs as well.

    Equipment

    • Food processor, blender, or rolling pin
    • Medium mixing bowl
    • Measuring cup
    • Silicone spatula
    • 9" pie pan or plate

    Ingredients

    • 1 C vegan graham crackers - finely crushed
    • ⅓ C sugar
    • ½ C non-dairy butter - melted

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 375º
    2. Crush graham crackers using a food processor, blender, or rolling pin.
    3. In a medium bowl, combine graham crackers, sugar, and butter. Mix thoroughly.
    4. Spoon graham cracker mixture into un-greased 9" pie plate or pan. Press mixture into pie pan, completely and evenly covering bottom and sides.
    5. Bake at 375º for 8-10 minutes or until crust is lightly browned.
    6. Allow to cool completely before adding pie filling.

    • Cook to a minimum temperature of 165 °F (74 °C)
    • Don’t leave food sitting out at room temperature for extended periods
